Bargate Quarter, Southampton – Regeneration Plans Approved
Tellon Capital are delighted to announce that planning permission has been approved for the redevelopment of the former Bargate Shopping Centre in Southampton on behalf of Bargate Property Ltd.
The development proposals, designed by architects Corstorphine & Wright, are guided by the key design aspiration of opening up the historic Town Walls. The scheme is set to include retail and restaurants at ground floor street level, and 152 one / two bedroom apartments and 451 student rooms at upper floor levels. It is projected that once fully occupied the residents and students will generate an additional £5million of expenditure for the local economy.
The development will seek aspirational and boutique brand retailers to create a shopping area distinct from those already on offer in Southampton and is set to generating 280 new jobs once operational.
Securing planning approval is a crucial step towards the successful realisation of the asset strategy for the Bargate project and Tellon are committed to creating a unique place and destination that will benefit the city of Southampton.
