Breaking Ground at the Bargate

Such a huge achievement yesterday, finally breaking ground on the Bargate Scheme in Southampton.

When we first walked around the site seven years ago, none of us thought it would take this long to get here but COVID and the changing world of student accommodation, hospitality and retail has led us to today. A scheme which promises 520 brand new build to rent residential units with 30,000 square feet of ground floor commercial accommodation exposing the old walls and creating a vibrancy not seen in the city for many years. It has been quite a journey.

Our project management team at Stace, our consultants at NRP, our architects Corstorphine & Wright, BECG and Southampton City Council who patiently worked with us and many others, probably too many to mention.

We are also delighted Henry construction have agreed to take on the development to create the new Bargate Quarter and we are excited to see it come out of the ground. We are thrilled that alongside Legal & General, our funders and future operators, and can start commencement on a landmark scheme in the heart of Southampton.
A scheme which will leave its legacy here in the city centre.
