Press Announcement

Tellon Capital is pleased announce it has successfully negotiated the sale of Chineham District Centre, Basingstoke to SupermarketIncome REIT PLC for £72.9 million

The centre comprises 19 acres, parking for in excess of 800 cars and is anchored by Tesco’s, M&S Foods, Boots, Iceland, Poundland and Matalan. Tellon acquired the site in 2018 and successfully negotiated planning approval for the renovation and expansion of the centre in 2020.

Chineham remains an extremely attractive site due to its core anchor stores and good covenants with Tesco’s at its core.

Thank you to the team involved, including Addleshaw Goddard, Wilson Wright, Harvey Spack Field and Munroe K for all of their hard work managing the sale and congratulations to the new owners, Supermarket Income REIT PLC.

About the Centre

Chineham Shopping Centre is a thriving shopping destination offering convenient retail that is easily accessible for the local catchment, drawing in excess of 6 million shoppers per year.

Through strategic active Asset Management and careful planning we will explore the opportunities present which we believe to be under-developed from a retail perspective, but with an excellent demographic and catchment. The existing scheme is anchored by Tesco Stores, M&S Foodhall, Matalan, Poundland and Boots with a further 25 unit shops & 850 free car parking spaces all sitting within 18.66 acres site.

We purchased the centre in 2018 with an ambition to greatly enhance the offer to better serve the community and bolster its status as the heart of the community. The centre has proved vital to providing essential services in these challenging times and supporting the local population.
